Midgets Excite Large Crowd In Macon Return

(Macon, IL) Tyler Thomas of Collinsville, OK., made the most of his opportunity in the 30-lap POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget feature race at Macon Speedway as he bypassed leader Zach Daum with ten laps remaining. Thomas had the faster midget but couldn't arrange a chance to take the lead from Daum until the top side slowly went away from Daum and allowed Thomas to make the pass for the lead change. Tanner Thorson started third in the feature, dropped to the tail after an early spinout, rallied during the caution-filled feature and came back to finish third.

Joe B. Miller came from behind to catch the lead on lap seven and pull away from the field for the 20-lap POWRi Speedway Motors Micro Sprints, presented by the Beach House Restaurant. Miller, who won his heat race, starved off Craig Ronk for the win. Slater Helt took third with a strong finish.

The POWRi Midget circuit brought in 30 drivers from all across the country and the POWRi Micro Sprint circuit carried 29 drivers.

Jake Little mastered the top side of Macon Speedway for the second straight week and won his second feature in the Midwest Big Ten Series feature. Ryan Little, his uncle, finished second. Mayhem ensued behind the Littles as Tommy Sheppard, Jr. and Myles Moos connected on the back stretch coming to the checkered flag leading to a collision and other cars getting tangled together. Guy Taylor eluded the mess and finished third.

Jeremy Nichols made short work of the Street Stock class with a convincing 15-lap domination. Nichols said the car has been acting up on him recently but there was no evidence of that as he won his heat race as well as the feature.

Adam Webb started at the back because he won last week's Hornet feature and came through the field in a rush to take the lead with 10 laps to go and dashed away for his second straight checkered flag.

Next week, Macon Speedway hosts the Dean Garland Classic, a Street Stock event part of the Midwest Street Stock Championship.
