Crawley Doubles Up at Macon Speedway

(Macon, IL) It wasn't the most ideal weather conditions for racing in Macon but fans and drivers witnessed a clean racing program amidst the cold weather and strong winds. They also witnessed Dave Crawley, Jr. return to victory lane not once, but twice.

Dave Crawley, Jr. took advantage of contact between leader Rodney Standerfer and second-place contender Brian Lynn to open the door for the lead in the Billingsley Towing Modifieds A-Main and got his hands on the checkered flag. Crawley needed patience to find out which lane to run and waited it out until he was close enough to make his move. With five laps to go, Crawley got the chance and made the pass on the back straightaway.

That was the second checkered flag of the night for Crawley. His first race in the Big Ten Street Stock Series race, where Crawley won the event, the second Big Ten Series race of 2016 and also his second win. Crawley is not a regular in the Street Stock division anymore but cut his racing teeth in that class years ago. The runner-up was Nick Macklin, who started eighth and passed six drivers to get the second-place position but ran out of time to catch Crawley.

Matt Taylor doesn't want anybody but his name attached to the Macon Speedway Pro Late Model qualifying fastest lap. Last week, his set the new track record with a time of 11.235 and before he took to the track Roben Huffman reset the mark with a time of 11.228. Two qualifiers later, Taylor broke the minutes-old new record with a time of 11.143. Taylor set the inaugural mark with a 11.512 time to open the 2015 racing season. With a good finish to his heat and a redraw before the 20-lap feature attraction, Taylor was in the front row. He, however, wouldn't be able to finish first. Jose Parga came from third place to bypass Taylor and the leader Roben Huffman to get the victory. Along with Dakota Ewing, the four drivers exchanged the top four positions during the last five remaining laps. Parga, Taylor, Ewing and Huffman would be the finishing order.

Tim Hancock drove away fast and furious in the B-Modified main event, making it three-for-three in feature races in 2016.  For Hancock, it's his fifth win in eight tries throughout central Illinois this season.

Adam Webb delivered another Hornet victory on the grand stage of the Hornet Challenge. The event was rained out last week and made up before the night's regular feature and Webb coasted to a 25-lap, $1000-to-win special. In the second race, Jeremy Reed got the front row start and took off for 15 laps after having to pull in during the Hornet Challenge and suffer a DNF (Did Not Finish).
