Funk Takes Osman Memorial

(Macon, IL) Andrew Funk was able to win the inaugural John Osman Memorial at Macon Speedway on a chilly Saturday night. Funk went past Brian Dasenbrock on lap 29 of the special 47-lap main event in the Street Stock class. Dasenbrock was hanging on for his life for the first 28 laps with as many as three drivers vying for the top spot but Dasenbrock was able to hold the leader spot with the help of the top of the oval. However, the top side also helped Funk who helped close the gap. After Funk took over, Dasenbrock stayed close but a spinout took away his change for payback. That opened up the door for Bobby Beiler but with only a limited amount of laps remaining, Funk stayed just ahead of Beiler to capture the first Osman Memorial checkered flag after starting ninth. Fourth place finisher Gene Reed started 18th and worked his way through the field.

Cullen Breeden came to Macon Speedway for the second time in 2015 and left with the Billingsley Towing Modifieds feature win. Dave Crawley, Jr. was closing the space for the lead but Breeden was untouchable on this night and Crawley took the runner-up spot.

It looked like it was either going to be Danny Smith or Dennis Vandermeersch in the Sportsman feature with Timmy Dick deep in the field. With three laps remaining, Dick had taken control with a slide on the bottom of the second turn onto the backstretch surpassing both Vandermeersch and Smith and running away to victory.

Nick Bauman is the son of "Fast" Ed Bauman, many time Macon Speedway track champion and two-time Herald & Review 100 champion. Nick held his dad's nickname in the Big Ten Pro Late Models 25-lap feature and blasted away to victory. Despite a few cautions, nobody could stay close to Bauman and he coasted to victory ahead of Guy Taylor and Matt Taylor.

Adam Webb outlasted Jeremy Reed and Steven Stine and won the 4-cylinder Hornet race.
