Big Ten Series Super Late Models back after one-of-a-kind season last summer

MACON, Ill. -- The Big Ten Series Super Late Models are back for 2015 after such a tight points battle last season, when Brian Diveley of Springfield and Ryan Little of Pleasant Plains were declared co-champs after tying for the points lead.

A driver's top eight finishes from the 10 races will be compiled to determine the champion. The series adds another track to the lineup, as Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville will hold two events this season. Like Macon Speedway, Belle-Clair is a fifth-mile high-banked dirt oval.

The champion takes home $1,500 from the $4,000 points fund. The season opener is May 8 at Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway before the title hunt heads to Macon Speedway on May 9. The series races three more times at Macon Speedway before closing its run at Jacksonville Speedway on Aug. 7. Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway and Quincy (Ill.) Raceways also host Big Ten Series Super Late Models.

"It was an incredible super late model season a year ago,'' Macon Speedway promoter bob Sargent said. "We're proud of everyone of these talented drivers who call Macon Speedway home. We look forward to some great racing this summer. I'm ready to drop the green flag right now!''

Macon Speedway opens for its 70th consecutive season on April 18, and the famed track will race every Saturday with some specials. The schedule includes a POWRi midget doubleheader on July 3-4 with the St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100 for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on April 30 and the Herald & Review 100 on July 9 in the UMP Summernationals tour.
