Watch for fireworks during, after 95Q Firecracker 40's Saturday at Macon Speedway

MACON, Ill. – The fireworks will snap, crackle and pop on the race track and through the skies at legendary Macon Speedway Saturday, when the 95Q Firecracker 40’s serve as one of the top racing nights of the season with a pair of 40-lap features. Coupled with a huge fireworks display at the conclusion of racing, it’s summer time family fun that can’t be missed.

The 800-horsepower late models return to the fifth-mile high banked layout for a 40-lapper that pays $1,500 to win. UMP late models have long been a fan favorite of Macon Speedway fans, and there will be plenty of door-to-door, dirt-slinging action when the monsters take to the track. Late model pilots enjoy competing at Macon Speedway because of the fast, smooth track, and they always put on a great show while going for the big money. Billingsley Towing Modifieds are ready for a 40-lapper that pays $700 to win, and the division’s action-packed race in mid-June still has fans talking, pointing fingers and ready for the next installment of the hard-nosed racing that made Macon Speedway famous.

Street Stocks, Sportsman, Outlaw Hornets and Stock Hornets will also race. Then Macon Speedway gets a jump on the Fourth of July celebration with a fireworks extravaganza to light up the sky. The spectacular display is another reason Macon Speedway is a destination this weekend for families, race fans and folks who just like to have fun.

Neuhoff Media and 95Q, Decatur’s country home, is a Decatur classic, just like Macon Speedway. The station features two of the most popular DJ’s in Central Illinois. Join Trish from 5 a.m. to 9 each morning for the latest country news, weather, contests and all your requests. From 2 p.m. to 7, Toby takes you on the afternoon drive for the ride home. Head to 95Q.com for concert info, events and fun every day.

As part of a month-long promotion, IHOP will distribute coupons for redemption at 1280 E. Pershing Road in Decatur during each night of racing at Macon Speedway in June. With the purchase of one entrée and two drinks, the second entrée is free. When visiting the IHOP on East Pershing Road, ask your server for a $2 off coupon to Macon Speedway. It’s good for general admission during June.

With all of this hot racing, fans don’t miss your chance to get a souvenir race bucket. For just $20, you may purchase a souvenir bucket filled with five beers and the ice to keep it cold. Refills with five beers and more ice to chill the portable party pack are just $15.

Grandstands open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7.

The cars and stars of the UMP Summer Nationals arrive for the much anticipated Herald-Review 100 on July 10, when the winner grabs a $5,000 pay check. New Berlin’s Brandon Sheppard is the defending champion of The Hell Tour. Local legend Shannon Babb, known as the Moweaqua Missile, is contending for another title. Billy Moyer, Bobby Pierce Jr., and Brian Shirley are also considered contenders. The Herald-Review 100 is one day after the tour hits the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track in another $5,000 to win event.

July is loaded with big events at Macon Speedway with the Skeff Distributing Christmas in July Toy Drive on July 5, Miles Chevrolet Fireman’s Ball/Topless 40 on July 12, Kid’s Castle Hall of Fame Night with Big Ten Series late models and the B.G. Nevitt Memorial Faster Pastor Night on July 19 and the DynaGraphics/ILMO Night MOWA doubleheader for sprint cars on July 26.

And there’s more racing with the Smith Classic as USAC sprint cars make a stop at the Action Track on July 16 during Indiana Sprint Week and the Scott’s Get Geared Up 200 for ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis on July 25. Stock racing returns to Taylorville (Ill.) for the first time in decades with the Larry’s Service Center Triple 25’s at the Christian County Fair on July 24.
