POWRi, B.G. Nevitt Memorial and IHOP Night rained out at Macon Speedway
MACON, Ill. – POWRi hot shot Tanner Thorson arrived early at Macon Speedway. The 18-year-old from Nevada thinks it’s a “cool little joint.’’
Campers were also pulling into the lots Saturday morning. Race fans want pictures of legendary Macon Speedway, and license plates from Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa and Ontario made the trip to the fifth-mile high banked track in anticipation of a special night. But rains came by mid-afternoon to force a cancellation of the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series, B.G. Nevitt Memorial and all racing at Macon Speedway Saturday.
Buckle up for twice the fun when Mueller Distributing presents the Miller Lite Beer Twin 50’s on Saturday, July 14 at legendary Macon Speedway. A pair of 50-lap features highlights the program with Midwest Big Ten Series late models and Billingsley Towing modifieds as the double-barrel main attraction. With the races longer than the regular race weekends at Macon Speedway, race fans always circle their calendars for the Lite Beer Twin 50’s.
Big Ten late models run at Macon Speedway for the third time this season at Macon Speedway  in a 10-race campaign that culminates with drivers going for the $5,000 prize fund. The Big Ten late model champ nets $2,000. Steve Sheppard, Jr., of New Berlin is the defending series champ. Guy Taylor of Springfield leads the Macon Speedway Billingsley Towing modifieds points after winning the track title last season. He’s the son of Dick Taylor, the semi-retired fan favorite who called Macon Speedway home for decades.
Also racing that night are street stocks, outlaw hornets, stock hornets and B-mods. Grandstands open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
