Memorial Day tradition of racing continues at Macon Speedway with Sunoco ALMS, NASCAR stars
MACON, Ill. – After the family barbecues, the trip to your local park on monuments to honor our fallen soldiers and perhaps a dip in the pool, Macon Speedway continues its Memorial Day tradition of racing with the Sunoco American Late Model Series in a $2,000 to win feature Monday that also pays $250 to start. The Monday show will also feature NASCAR Night of Stars I with Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace racing in the Billingsley Towing Modifieds division.
Race car drivers circle this weekend on the calendar, and Macon Speedway is a favorite option among some of dirt track racing’s biggest names. After Bob Brady Auto Mall Raminator Night Saturday, Macon Speedway personnel prepared the track Sunday for the Sunoco ALMS stars, regional warriors and local hotshoes who are expected to convene for a battle royal in the Memorial Day program.
The door-to-door, dirt slinging action will keep fans on their feet. Besides the Sunoco ALMS cars and the Billingsley Towing Modifieds, Street Stocks, Outlaw Hornets and Stock Hornets will also race.
Schrader and Wallace, co-owners of Macon Speedway, will also greet the fans.
Don’t forget that Macon Speedway goes early on Memorial Day. Pits open at 3 p.m. with the doors for general admission open at 4 and racing starting at 6. You can come to the track hungry, because we’ve got everything from Heinkel’s polish sausage and wieners to smoked turkey legs, steak sandwiches, walking tacos, cheese fries, the world’s best popcorn and cold drinks.
Upcoming dates include Casey’s General Stores/Armed Forces Night on May 31, plus IHOP Night presents the Nevitt Memorial Faster Pastor and POWRi midgets/micros on June 7.
