Blue Mound's Camp leads POWRi Outlaw Micros into doubleheader at Macon Speedway
MACON, Ill. – When the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and the Outlaw Micros Series return to Macon Speedway for double feature races in each division Saturday, Jeremy Camp of Blue Mound leads the Outlaw Micro points standings as Central Illinois racers are rising to the top of the list.
Camp, who began racing quarter midgets at 9-years-old and mini-sprints at 14, heads into the weekend with 680Â points. Blue Mound is within eyesight from the Macon Speedway bleachers, so Camp knows his way around the high-banked fifth-mile oval, and he would love to score a victory on home turf. The POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets and Outlaw Micros also race at Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Ill., on Friday.
Defending Outlaw Micros champ Nathan Benson, of Concordia., Mo., has one win but trails Camp by 120 points. From there, Central Illinois drivers are climbing into the mix of the championship hunt. Riverton’s Aaron Andruskevitch is third with 550 points. Jake Neuman, of New Berlin, is fifth with 340 points.
Chris Openshaw of Bessemer, Ala., is on the pole in the feature lineup set on April 26. Matt Howard of Lawrence, Kan., is on the outside of the front row with Scott Sawyer of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Evan Turner of Jacksonville filling the second row. Camp starts outside the third row while Benson is in the eighth row, Andruskevitch in the 11th row and Neuman the lone driver in the 12th row.
In the POWRi midget lineup set from April 26, Justin Peck of Monrovia, Ind., is the polesitter with series points leader Chris Bell, of Norman, Okla., also qualified on the front row.
In addition to the features in POWRi midgrets and micros from April 26, a complete racing program is scheduled with full feature races in POWRI midgets and micros, UMP Billingsley Towing Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, UMP Outlaw Hornets and Stock Hornets.
