Big Ten street stocks, double modified features and Bud Light Ladies Night highlight Saturday

MACON, Ill. – The circus came to town Thursday, when 17-year-old Bobby Pierce captured the St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100 for his second Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory of his career, and legendary Macon Speedway doesn’t plan on slowing down in the month of May.

Just two days after the big crowd enjoyed the first-ever appearance at mighty Macon Speedway by the Lucas Oil car, the fifth-mile high-banked dirt oval hosts Bud Light Ladies Night, presented by Y103, plus the second round of the Big Ten Series street stocks in a $500-to-win race and double UMP modified features.

The modifieds will race the feature rained out on April 26 early in the Saturday program.

While defending Macon Speedway street stocks champ Gene Reed of Blue Mound took the opener in the 10-race street stocks series, he was unable to chase down his brother, Terry, last week in a fabulous street stock race that finished with the brothers embracing in a hug in Victory Lane. Gene Reed leads Jeremy Nichols of Shelbyville in the Big Ten street stock standings, ahead of Bobby Beiler, Terry Reed and Jeremiah Holliday.

Big Ten street stocks race five times at Macon Speedway this season and bring stock car racing back to the Christian County Fair in Taylorville with the Larry’s Service Center Twin 25’s on July 24. The series also travels to Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway and Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway.

In the first of five Bud Light Ladies Nights at Macon Speedway, five women from Rocco’s will compete for the chance to advance to the Bud Light Ladies Night championship race in September. Also, women receive half-price admission. There will be Bud Light merchandise giveaways and drink specials.

Racing in UMP divisions includes Billingsley Towing modifieds, street stocks, sportsman, outlaw hornets and B-mods. Stock hornets and the Bud Light Ladies Night race with Rocco’s make it a fantastic program.

Macon Speedway is located nine miles south of Decatur on U.S. 51, then 0.6 miles west on Andrews Street, then south to 205 N. Wiles. Macon Speedway hosts racing every Saturday night, plus many weeknight specials.
