Terry Reed holds off his brother for street stock win before rains halt POWRi show Saturday

MACON, Ill. – Terry Reed of Decatur held off his brother Gene for the victory in UMP street stocks at Macon Speedway before the rain postponed POWRi racing.

Gene Reed, of Blue Mound, won the Big Ten Series street stock race last week, but this time he couldn’t find a way past Terry. Thomas Riech of Springfield finished third, ahead of Brian Dasenbrock of Decatur and Bobby Beiler of Blue Mound.

The POWRi midgets didn’t complete a lap in the feature before the light rains dampened the track and ended the night prematurely. Points leader Chris Bell called Macon Speedway his favorite track, but he didn't get a chance to complete the weekend sweep after taking the feature at Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway Friday night. The POWRi midgets and outlaw micros return to Macon Speedway on May 17.

But Macon Speedway immediately began preparations for the St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100 as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series makes its first appearance at legendary Macon Speedway Thursday. The St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100 is the richest purse in the history of the 69-year-old track. It pays $12,000 to win and $1,000 to race the feature.

UMP Billingsley Towing modifieds also race that night, and NASCAR stars and Macon Speedway co-owners Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace will compete. The modified winner earns $1,000.

Gates open at 4 p.m., and racing starts at 7.

UMP STREET STOCKS – 1. Terry Reed (Decatur), 2. Gene Reed (Blue Mound), 3. Thomas Riech (Springfield), 4. Brian Dasenbrock (Decatur), 5. Bobby Beiler (Blue Mound), 6. Ronnie Burns (Cerro Gordo), 7. Roy MaGee II (Springfield), 8. Charles Biesenthal, 9. Lance Johnson (Kenney), 10. Jake Weatherford, 11. Kyle Waters (Oreana), 12. Luke Force (Argenta), 13. Michael Nantz.
