Macon Speedway opens for practice
MACON, Ill. – It’s time to hit the track at Macon Speedway.
Test N Tune practice is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday (March 30) at historic Macon Speedway, the fifth-mile banked dirt oval. Cars in all classes have been invited for an open practice session, the only practice time before the season opener on Saturday (April 5).
Gates and the pits open at 11 a.m. General admission is free. Concessions will be open. The forecast calls for a gorgeous day. It’s going to be a fun day at the track.
Macon Speedway opens the season with the seventh annual Spring Fling Saturday. The UMP Champions Night and POWRi midgets and micros highlight the racing in the season opener. Champions from 13 area tracks have been invited to compete in UMP modifieds, UMP street stocks and UMP hornets for bragging rights. The popular POWRi midgets and outlaw micros also make the first of their six appearances at the speedway this season. Pits open at 4 p.m. Gates swing open at 5, and racing begins at 7.
Macon Speedway is located nine miles south of Decatur on U.S. 51, then 0.6 miles west on Andrews Street, then south to 205 Wiles. Macon Speedway hosts racing every Saturday night, plus many weeknight specials.
