MACON, Ill. – Track Enterprises, Inc., announced today St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part will serve as the title sponsor for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race at Macon Speedway. The St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100 brings in-your-face excitement here on May 1.
While Macon Speedway has long been known for late models on the one-fifth mile high-banked oval, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will make its first visit to a track that will race for the 69th consecutive season. The St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100 will pay $12,000 to win.
“I’m excited that Central Illinois race fans get to see the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series right in their own backyard in the St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100,’’ Macon Speedway co-owner Bob Sargent said. “I’m happy to bring the national series here to our historic track.’’
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is considered the premier national touring sanctioning body for dirt super late models. The series will sanction 47 events in 19 states in 2014. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race cars are on the cutting edge of technology in construction and powered by 800 horsepower V8 engines. Nothing is stock about these $75,000 machines that provide dirt slinging, sideways, door-to-door action lap after lap.
“It will be a fantastic show watching our Central Illinois racers battle the regulars on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series,’’ Sargent said. “I know they will have our fans on their feet.’’
To be the best, you have to beat the best. The race within the race will pit the hotshoes on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series against local and regional stars.
